READ ALL ABOUT IT: Net Zero, British Industry, Brexit and more!
The latest news and a patriot's views – 22 May
Here are a few of the latest stories – some of which you will have heard about, but others you might not have – which sadly show just how stupid, useless and treacherous the Conservative government is:
“UK awards first round of carbon storage licences”
The Financial Times reports that, following the Chancellor's announcement in the budget that he would spend £20 billion on Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS), the first 20 licences to store carbon dioxide in depleted oil and gas fields off the British coast have been awarded. This is part of the government's lunatic 'net zero' policy, and the idea is to capture and store CO2 emissions from manufacturing and energy plants. This is utter madness. It is one of the stupidest ideas, and waste of money, that even this moronic government has ever come up with. It is literally just burying £20 billion in a hole in the ground.
I understand that some people believe in the theory of Man-Made Climate Change (MMCC). Although there is no proof for this, a lot of governments are pushing all sorts of expensive changes to cut our CO2 emissions. Well, Western governments, anyway. And that's the point: countries that produce the most CO2 – like China and India, have no intention of bankrupting themselves for no good reason. And since they are not cutting their CO2 output, anything we do is utterly pointless and useless. We are committing economic suicide. We are governed by politicians who are acting like the cult leader Jim Jones, who in 1978 forced over 900 of his followers to kill themselves.
That is not to say that the government should do nothing. No, we should be taking advantage of the economic opportunities that we can obtain from the net zero policies of other countries. So by all means invest in the research and development of technology to cut CO2, but do so in a way that treats this gas as a resource, not a pollutant. There are a host of British start-ups and university spin-outs that use CO2 to create a huge variety of useful products, such as Econic Technologies (making polymers for the polyurethane industry), Deep Branch (making protein feed for farming), or ViridiCO2 (making chemical feedstock). Just this week Cambridge University researchers announced they had developed a form of photosynthesis using sunlight, CO2 and water to create a bioethanol fuel that could be used in car engines.
If the government invested in these technologies they could create successful companies selling to a huge export market, earning money for Britain, rather than just burying it under the ground. But we are ruled by cretins and traitors rather than visionary nationalists.
“Nearly half of UK firms to defer investment due to tax rises, survey finds”
In the latest blow to Sunak and Hunt's economic plans, Reuters reports that 46% of medium-sized British companies intend to delay investment plans due to the recent increase in corporation tax (from 19% to 25%), and 39% said they would reduce recruitment or even shed jobs. So well done Sunak and Hunt, the cretins running our economy into the ground - they have managed to destroy investment and destroy jobs. This is exactly what I said would happen (see my previous articles about the budget!) and why I wanted tax cuts, not increases.
Our main economic rival – Ireland – has a corporation tax rate of just 12.5%, which is why AstraZeneca decided to build their new cutting edge £320 million drug plant in Dublin instead of Merseyside, as originally planned. We have economic retards in charge who have not even heard of the Laffer Curve (which explains that increasing taxes more than the market will bear actually reduces the government's income!). There isn't much more to say about this, except that as long as the Conservatives remain in government we are utterly screwed!
“‘Dartford Disneyland’ calls in administrators after Kent theme park plan collapses”
Back in 2019 the London resort Company announced the exciting news that they would build a £3.5 billion theme park near Dartford, in Kent. It would be called the 'London resort' and be the UK's equivalent of Disneyland, with 50 rides and attractions, including eight huge roller coasters and zones containing medieval castles, an Aztec pyramid, theatres and a nightclub. Over 3,500 hotel rooms had also been planned, alongside two ferry terminals, an indoor waterpark, a conference and convention centre and an e-sports facility. The theme park would have created hundreds of jobs, pulling in thousands of tourists a day and earning millions of pounds for the local economy.
Unfortunately we now learn from the Telegraph that this has failed: the company has accrued £100 million of debts and called in the administrators. Why? Because of planning delays, caused by a small spider that led to the land being designated a Site of special Scientific Interest. Really, you couldn't make it up. No wonder nothing ever gets done in this country – one stupid spider and a multi-billion pound investment is cancelled. Until we get a government with the right priorities we will become ever poorer. Britain is rapidly sinking into a second-rate country. But never mind, at least we'll still have plenty of tiny spiders!
“New post-Brexit border controls on food imports 'will stop cheese and meat coming into the country'”
You might think that the Daily Mail is a pro-Brexit paper, but really they are equally happy sticking the knife in and complaining that it is a problem instead of an opportunity. So let's look at their report screaming that there is “Fury over rules that a vet must sign off on all imports of 'medium risk' food”. The truth is exactly the opposite of what the traitors at the Mail are suggesting. For a start, we are only talking about food imports from the EU, and secondly, we are only going to implement exactly the same rules on imports from the EU as the EU imposes on imports from the UK. In other words, we are just going to level the playing field for UK and EU food exporters. And thank goodness for that!
As part of Boris's stupid post-Brexit agreement with the EU, there are now controls on food moving between us. Or rather, there are controls on UK exports to the EU, but NOT on EU exports to the UK. This is because the British Government has delayed putting in place the necessary checks four times – meaning that while UK producers have to surmount complex checks and incur large costs to sell to the EU, EU producers have no such problems when exporting to Britain, and therefore have a hugely unfair commercial advantage. Why has the UK government refused to impose the same checks as the EU has done? Because they want to keep the price of imports from the EU down. This is madness! The UK is helping EU companies, while the EU is harming UK companies. The government are filthy traitors! And one of the ministers who pushed this policy most strongly was Jacob Rees-Mogg, whom some fools actually think is a patriotic Brexiteer! No, he's a stupid, treacherous Tory.
Even now, when it seems we are finally going to respond to the EU's hostility and impose checks of our own beginning later this year, the government is doing all it can to reduce these to the bare minimum in order to “minimise burdens”. It should be doing the opposite, and making EU exports to the UK as difficult and expensive as possible! Nobody needs to buy French cheese or Spanish ham – there are better, cheaper and more patriotic British alternatives available. Only middle class, Brexit-hating, EU-fanatics buy EU food, so let them pay more for it! And let's help our domestic producers sell more here at home, through import substitution, making them more successful. As far as I'm concerned, dearer EU imports is a Brexit benefit!
